Temporary Crown Problem
A temporary crown protects your tooth from plaque and germ contamination and keeps your tooth in place until you get your permanent crown.
In a situation where a temporary crown falls off, even if it’s for a short time, your teeth can move and shift, and the permanent crown won’t fit. If your temporary crown falls off, save the crown and bring it to your dentist right away so it can be re-cemented.
Make an appointment with your dentist, but if you cannot get to the office immediately, try replacing the crown yourself. If it stays on the tooth, be aware to chew on the other side of your mouth and get to the dentist as soon as possible. If it does not stay and is a little loose, buy denture adhesive cream at your local pharmacy. Place a dab of the cream on the underside of crown, put it over the tooth, and bite down gently.
